Moving Day

I've been wanting to move my blog over to wordpress for a while now, but I'm so comfortable with blogger that I've been putting it off. Now with having Miss P home, we're looking for a little more privacy, so I've decided to take the plunge. After much debate, I've decided to only share the password with real life friends and family, and maybe some of my regular blogging buddies. When I started this blog over a year ago, it was all about keeping friends and family up-to-date with the adoption process and meeting others in the adoption community. Now that we are a family of three, this blog has turned into a little scrapbook of our lives, our semi-private lives. I want to be able to post pictures and details without having to think about who or how many people are reading it.

So if you are interested in following along, shoot me an email or leave a comment. You can find us at http://pursuitofpoppy.wordpress.com

This was Marc's first week back to work since Poppy's arrival. Wow. Being a stay-at-home-mom is hard work! I love every minute of it, but I am exhausted! And I thought it was hard to find time to blog over the last couple of weeks, but now I feel like it's impossible! But I do want to continue journaling our life as a family, so I am going to try to set some time aside at least once a week to post some pictures and details.

I am so in love with those cheeks.

How cute is this outfit? And check out the socks that came with it!

Marc and Poppy love to brush their teeth together every night before bedtime.

And Poppy always makes sure Daddy gets those teeth clean!

Action packed!

Sorry for the lack of posts lately, but our days and nights have been action packed! Between a visit to the pediatricians, diaper dilemmas, tons of visitors, teething, swimming, shopping and a few sleepless nights, Poppy is still being quite a trooper. She's been home for 3 weeks now and we continue to be amazed by this little girl every single day.

Poppy loves going for walks all over our neighborhood.

Lookin' super cute in my parents garden.

Mmmm. Sharing ice-cream (now on a daily basis).

Hanging out with her cousin, Amelia.

This was Poppy's first encounter with a pool. Based on her dis-taste towards bath time, we figured she would hate the pool. But we were wrong!

Our little diva.

Guess who loves the water!

Week of firsts!

Today marks our 2 week anniversary of having Poppy home and the changes we have seen in the past couple of days are soooo exciting! Our week has been full of "firsts" for Poppy. Her first visit to the zoo, first walk in her stroller, first time letting daddy carry her in the baby carrier, first time in the pool, the list goes on and on. She is going to Marc a lot more often and he was even able to give her a bottle this morning. We've had quite a few visitors these past couple of days, and at first she is still extremely shy, but lately she's been warming up to a few of our family and friends. Each day is filled with exciting surprises around here!

These 2 do this all day long, and then Poppy usually opens her mouth and bends down to give Lola a big kiss on the lips. Lovely.

I just had to get a picture of this dress - it's one of my favorites, but it was a little snug, so I doubt she'll wear it again.

Playing peek-a-boo from behind a cushion.

Our first attempt at pig-tails.

Making pizza with daddy!

First time in the carrier on dad's back. She fell asleep by the time we got home from our walk.

Playing with dirt. (and as soon as I snapped this picture, that hand full of dirt went into her mouth. Mmmm.)

Our little bathing beauty.

Poppy's first trip to the zoo! The only animal she really cared about was this goat.

Poppy's first ice-cream cone!

Needless to say, the girl loves ice-cream.

First visit from Aunt Courtney!

Party on the porch!

Poppy leaning to almost give Claire a kiss!

My sweet girl.

Nursery pics and more...

Poppy is just amazing us more and more each day. Every morning starts with a bottle in our rocking chair, and as soon as it's done, she starts giggling. It's the cutest thing. She's the cutest thing. And we just can't get enough of that giggle.

Licking her yogurt lips.

This is the "Mama, come pick me up!" look. (I get it about 100 times a day)

She's just starting to look at some of her toys, but she's still not sure about her stroller :(

Even though she's walking around and exploring, this is still her favorite spot to be :)

Here she is checking to make sure her belly button is still there.

If there's food around, this is the smile we get.

Look who made me breakfast together yesterday!

And I'm finally getting around to posting pictures of the nursery...

This is what the room looked like the day before she came home. Daddy worked hard all night long to get it finished.

This is what our co-sleeper looks like (one of the best purchases we've made). Speaking of which, our nights are still pretty rough, so this bed is calling my name right now.

Baby Bird gets wings!

We've had a lot going on these past few days! Poppy has finally started to get off my lap and she is slowly beginning to explore her new surroundings. And the most exciting thing is that Poppy is starting to go to her dad a little more each day! It's amazing to see how much she comes out of her little shell every day.

Her favorite place to be is still our front porch. Or the dining room table. Anytime we sit her down (in her own chair now!) she just giggles with delight because she knows she is going to eat. Remember, this girl can eat!!!

Here she is going to her dad for a snack...
My mom made us an Asian noodle dish for dinner the other night and Poppy was in her glory! She was so excited, she kept clapping after each mouthful and then wiping her hands all over her face...

Poppy just loves playing with her toy purse, but her favorite toy is my old pink cell phone...
Check out those dimples - she's got at least 2 sets of them!
This was her first day that she sat in her chair all by her self - I think she finally made the connection - this is the room where I get food!
And this was the other night when Poppy went to Marc for the first time. He was so excited, I thought he was going to cry - it was super cute.
And here is Poppy's new best friend. Lola had been staying with Grandma all week and we were super nervous about how Poppy would react to her. All the worrying was for nothing because Poppy just loves her. She squeels whenever Lola walks by her.

It's 10:00 and Poppy just went down, which means I need to go to bed too. She's been pretty sleepless for the past couple of nights, so I am absolutely exhausted from staying up with her. Keep your fingers crossed that things go a little smoother tonight - Mama needs her sleep!

Baby Bird

I thought I'd share some pics of what are life has been like over the past few days...

Poppy and I both love the baby carrier. She loves being all snuggled up to me and it's the only way I can get anything done. If we didn't have the baby carrier and our co-sleeper, I honestly don't think we would have made it through the past couple of days.

Here we are at our first trip to the library. So far it seems like Poppy prefers adult books to her picture books. (I know, you're thinking - "who takes pictures in the library?" Marc does. Gotta love him.)
No, seriously, she does love being in the carrier! This is the face we get when she is tired and ready for a nap. No crying or screaming, not even a whimper, just this face.
I'm not sure if they have corn in Korea, but she seemed fascinated by it today. She stole a cob and tried to store it in the carrier for an afternoon snack.
This is the incredible smile we are slowly seeing more and more of each day.
I told you, without having the carrier, I wouldn't be able to get anything done!
When we're not out and about in our neighborhood, this is where you can usually find us. Poppy's nickname is Baby Bird. She just stays in this position all day long and looks up at me and opens her little mouth for food.
Speaking of food, this girl can eat! We were worried the first 48 hours because she was barely eating or drinking anything, but in the past couple of days, she eats anything and everything. That's a pile of tofu on her plate next to sweet potatoes and peas. She ate every last piece of tofu! It's her favorite.

Baby bird on mama's lap, all day long.

Her first experience with cheerios.
And this is what happens when you take the Baby Bird off mama's lap and try to put her in her own high-chair.

As you can see, our days are full of emotions lately. Poppy is still deeply grieving the loss of her foster family and it's heart-breaking when she calls out for them. But we are also seeing more of that incredible smile each day. The process of getting her 100% comfortable with us is going to take a lot longer than I ever imagined. But Marc and I couldn't be anymore happy that our little Baby Bird has finally flown home and we will do anything in our capacity to let her know how much we love and care for her.
